Charles Howell III and Tag Ridings share the lead in the Turning Stone Championship on eight under par following Saturday's third round at the Atunyote Golf Club.
Ridings set the pace for most of the afternoon before a bogey at the 18th dropped him into a tie for the lead with Howell.
Ridings said: "I played solid today. I hit a lot of good shots towards the middle of the greens and had some decent looks at it. Outside of a couple giveaways on the front nine and the one on 18, I played really good for 15 holes."
Howell fired a three-under 69 compared to Ridings` one-under 71 and the pair hold a one-stroke lead over a group of four players.
Howell birdied his first two holes and three of his opening five. Bogeys at the seventh and ninth halted his momentum but he rebounded with two more birdies coming in, including one on the 18th to finish his round.
Looking for the third win of his career and first of the season, Howell struggled with his putting but made up for it from tee to green.
He said: "I'm driving the ball better and driving the ball in the fairway more. And then the putting, I was starting to putt a little bit better. It's tough to play out here with an average of about 31 or 32 putts a round. It's hard to hit it good enough to make up for that."
He added: "But I have been able to manage the golf ball in the wind the first couple days, you know, where I don't make any big numbers. A lot of balls in the middle of the greens."
Ridings carded four birdies and three bogeys, including the costly one at the last.
Kyle Thompson, Brian Davis, Jason Day and Jeff Overton are tied for third at seven-under. Overton entered Saturday with a one-stroke lead but recorded a one-over 73.
